Welcome to third grade! Thank you for visiting.

Mrs. Kathy Sallstrom, Third Grade
I'd like to introduce myself. I've taught at Jefferson Elementary for 22 years. I'm  teaching third grade. I have found third grade to be as rewarding as any teaching opportunity I've had in the past. I have served Jefferson in other capacities as well. Over the course of my career, my passion for education has led me to serve as Jefferson's Gifted Site Coordinator, Math Coordinator, Building Leadership Team member, Spanish Committee Coordinator, S.A.F.E. Curriculum Writing Team, and the Science Curriculum Committee Member.  In the Classroom I like to immerse my third grade students in discovery learning. I enjoy being a witness to the magical lightbulb as it illuminates within each student. I'm anxious for your child to experience these magical moments. Those instances may occur when a love for chapter books is discovered, during a science experiment, when math concepts become avenues to problem solving, when writing or receiving pen pal letters, while performing a play, or conducting research. My favorite third grade sentences are , "Look what I did!" "Can I read?" "Can we do the next math page?" and "Is school over already?" There is nothing more rewarding for me than to hear these words. I place a great deal of importance upon my relationship with parents as well as students. I have an open door policy where the classroom is concerned. Parents are welcome at any time. Also, feel free to call at 388-5480, ext. 5427 or email me for any reason at . I'll do the same. I'm looking forward to a wonderful year.
